CHALLENGERS IN MODEL POWER!

HMS Norfolk - The Model in actionHMS Norfolk - The Model in action

My name is Graham J Davies and for some 28 years I have been trying to create a Long Distance Model Boat and Power Boat World Record, spending many thousands of pounds that I can ill afford.

Peter Dorsett and I attempted the record with Challenger II in April 1991 and we equalled the record before blowing up both engines.

This was very disappointing for all the people who helped me, including my sponsors and the TV crew that we had that day for 8 hours. (Read about this challenge here.)

So, we thought we would have another go with our model of H.M.S. Norfolk.

My Team and I started at noon on Friday 21st June 2013 and finished at noon next day.

It took place at the Waveney River Centre, turning at Boaters Hill Quay near Beccles and returning over a period of 24 hours.

6.2 miles each way.

It all took place on the River Waveney against tide and current.

WE DID IT!

MY TEAM & I COMPLETED THE CHALLENGE OF 24 HOURS AND ACHIEVED A STAGGERING 101 MILES IN EXTREME WEATHER OF HEAVY RAIN & SQUALLY WIND.

IT'S SUPER TO HAVE A NEW INDEPENDENT WORLD ENDURANCE RECORD FOR 24 HOURS ON A TIDAL RIVER.
